FLISOL Panama 2016 Report

Festival Latinoamericano de Instalación de Software Libre (FLISOL) is one of the most important events in Latin America where we share knowledge and experience related to free software simultaneously in the participant countries (Panama included).

Fedora Panama had a good participation on the event. José Reyes organized the event. Alejandro Pérez gave an introduction talk and Gonzalo Nina (from Fedora Bolivia) spoke about security. I gave a short workshop about SELinux. The venue was Universidad Interamericana de Panamá.

It is important to mention that we had FLISOL David on April 9th at Universidad del Istmo. Kiara Navarro and Alejandro Pérez gave talks there.

In both venues attendance was low but with very high interest in participating on open source projects, specially within Fedora:
  • From David, we get a new possible contributor, Julian Vega, which knows a lot of Blender and 3D design.
  • From Panama, students from Universidad Interamericana de Panamá formed a LUG and are aiming to participate on Fedora and organize Linux Day.

I would like to thank Universidad Interamericana de Panamá and Universidad del Istmo, the sponsors, the speakers, the attendees and everyone involve in the success of FLISOL.

See you next year!
