Linux Day is a global celebration of Linux. According to the event site, there is currently 9 teams in 5 countries. One of these teams is from my country, Panama. The responsible of doing this is Jose Reyes, our newest Panamanian Fedora Ambassador.

Python 3 Porting FAD: Results

The Python 3 Porting FAD was on November 14-15. It was an effort of more than 30 contributors worldwide. During this weekend the #fedora-python channel on IRC and the portingdb Git repository did not stop being active. Great experience!

Participation of Fedora in the Engineering Week

FLISOL David 2015 Report

Panama Fedora team participated in Festival Latinoamericano de Instalación de Software Libre (FLISOL) given on Saturday, April 11th at Universidad del Istmo, Chiriquí headquarters.

Change Libreoffice Default Colours Palette

Don't you feel limited with the default colours palette of LibreOffice? Well, I do and it's really annoying.

Doing some research I found on the wiki Practica Technical a workaround for this (the solution would be an easier custom color system as mentioned in this post). They recommend a more complete palette.

FUDCon Managua: Final Report

The Latin American contributor community for the Fedora Project held FUDCon (Fedora Users and Developer Conference) for the sixth time. This time the venue was in Managua, Nicaragua. Below I will detail my thoughts of the event.

Participation of Fedora in the Engineering Week at Universidad Interamericana de Panamá

On July 29th, the Fedora local team gave an introductory presentation for the students of Computer Systems Engineering at Universidad Interamericana de Panamá as our contribution for the Engineering Week that this university organizes.

  

FLISOL Panama 2014

On April 26th, FLISOL Panama was held at the Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá. The event had talks, workshops, demonstrations and installations. The Fedora Local Team prepared two booth places for projects demonstrations and installations. Also we participate on the talks and workshops. Luis Bazan, Kiara Navarro and Alejandro Perez spoke about their experience on Fedora Project. Johel Batista was in charge of the streaming. I had a workshop about Basic Python Programming. Thanks to the sponsors and participants.

Fedora 20 Release Party - Panama

On Saturday January 11 we celebrate the 10th anniversary of Fedora with a great release party. This time it was held at CoworkingPTY (website, twitter), which is a space for entrepreneurship and innovation.

Upgrading to Fedora Heisenbug

Fedora is 10 years old and is celebrating it in style, with an excellent release. For me, this has been one of the best versions. A clean upgrade, an improved interface and new features are visible.

Damaged RPM Database

Situation:

While updating my Fedora, the console displayed this message repeatedly: error: rpmdb: damaged header #4657 retrieved -- skipping.

Workshops at UTP

We met at the Faculty of Computer Systems Engineering of Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá to do an mini-install fest. Despite having a poor attendance, we spent a pleasant time and contacted two boys interested in joining the project.
